Congratulations to ARCH Disability Law Centre for bringing an important case to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, which found that a visitor restriction policy discriminated against a child with disabilities. The decision in JL v Empower Simcoe, 2021 underscores the obligation of a service provider to be flexible when deciding on the safety of others to the specific need or accommodation of one of its residents, even during a pandemic.
